Oaktec Insight rally team
The Energy-Efficient Motorsport (EEMS) programme of Motorsport Developemnt UK is sponsoring the only hybrid rally car currently competing in a UK championship. the car is a Honda Insight, a lightweight rear-drive model of 1,000 cc. Although the insight is no longer sold in the UK, it had the distinction of having the lowest CO2 emissions of any car on the market with 85g/km. This compares to the beter-known Toyota Prius at 104g/km.

The Oaktec petrol-electric hybrid Honda Insight competes in the Formula 1000 rally series based in NW England. These pictures were taken at various stages during the year. By mid-season, the Insight was firmly at the head of Class A, having won two rounds in succession at Smartmole Weeton near Blackpool and on July 15th at the Camsport Ranges, a remote military location near Aberystwyth in Snowdonia.
