EEMS Campaign Partner Initiative
The Energy Efficiency Challenge
In its broadest definition, energy efficiency refers to any, and all, efforts to be more efficient when using our limited fossil fuel reserves, to minimise waste and to develop alternative energy sources that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Governments the world over are initiating such programmes for environmental, social and political reasons.
UK motorsports and the associated high performance engineering industry holds a global leadership position. It also cherishes a reputation of responding quickly and efficiently to engineering challenges. There is no doubt that the emerging global drive towards energy efficiency will increasingly present such challenges to our industry and our society. Motorsport's traditional partners in the automotive and fuel sectors will increasingly seek energy efficient solutions while governments and consumers will increasingly demand them.
Meeting the Challenge
The motorsport industry must be aware of this drive to energy efficiency so that it reacts with conviction, shows its corporate responsibility and senses the economic opportunities in tackling the energy efficiency challenge - not just in motorsports, but also in wider applications of public and private transportation. Losing sight of the challenge will have consequences. However, responding to the challenge, and striving to beat it, is the best way to secure engineering relevance, essential permits, sponsorships and public acceptance.
EEMS Campaign Partner Initiative
The Energy Efficient Motorsport Programme (EEMS) is a Government programme whose vision is to work with the UK motorsport industry to put energy efficiency at the heart of modern motorsport by stimulating the use of sustainable technologies and fuels. At every level of the industry, there are organisations which are actively embracing energy efficiency as part of their motorsport activities. Through the EEMS Campaign Partner Initiative, these organisations have, for the first time, the opportunity to demonstrate their pro-active commitment towards energy efficiency.
EEMS Campaign Partner Benefits
The EEMS Campaign Partner Initiative gives organisations within motorsport, such as suppliers, race teams, championship organisers, regulators, racing circuits and many others, the opportunity to promote their commitment to the concept of energy efficiency in motorsport. By signing up to the charter, organisations will receive updates from EEMS, networking opportunities, invitations to specific EEMS Campaign Partner events and will be able to promote their status as an EEMS Campaign Partner to sponsors and investors.
Membership Criteria
To qualify as an EEMS Campaign Partner, organisations need to be able to show:
- The relevance of the organisation’s work to the motorsport industry.
- That the company’s existing (or proposed) activities demonstrate a commitment to energy efficiency.
- That the company can demonstrate a pro-active approach to meeting it’s charter commitments.
- Top level commitment to membership of the EEMS Campaign Partner Initiative – the charter should be signed by a company director – ideally the Managing Director, CEO or Chairman.
