Paris court dismisses Michelin request
6th April 2007
A French court of first instance (Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris) has dismissed a request by the French tyre manufacturer Michelin to annul an FIA tender for the exclusive supply of tyres for the World Rally Championship starting in 2008.
The governing body of motorsport recently announced that the Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli had been awarded the supply contract. Michelin, which currently supplies tyres to all of the factory backed teams competing in the 2007 World Rally Championship, contested the arrangement on the grounds that there were alleged irregularities in the tendering process and the company says that it will appeal against the TGIP’s decision.
