Warwick joins BRDC board

29th June 2007

Ex Formula One driver winner Derek Warwick has been elected as a member of the board of directors of the British Racing Drivers' Club which owns and operate the UK’s Silverstone race circuit near Northampton.

From 1981-93 Warwick took part in 162 Formula One Grand Prix events driving for the Toleman, Arrows, Renault, Brabham, Lotus and Footwork teams with second place finish in the 1984 Belgian and British Grands Prix his best result. In sportscar racing he was part of the Peugeot Sport team that won the 1992 World Sportscar Championship. Warwick victories that year included the Le Mans 24 Hour race.

Warwick said, "The BRDC means a lot to me - it has done so much for British motorsport – and I want to give something back. It's been through troubled times in recent years, and hopefully my experience in business, motorsport and property can help the club."
