Alan Gow to be the new MSA Chairman

Following the Motor Sports Association’s final board meeting of the year, Chairman John Grant has today announced that he will not stand for a second term in office, due to the pressure of his other business commitments. Grant’s three-year tenure as Chairman will come to an end on 31 December 2005.

Alan Gow has been appointed to succeed him and will take up his position as the new Motor Sports Association Chairman on 1 January 2006.

"We are sorry that John has decided to step down," said Colin Hilton, MSA Chief Executive. "He has done a great job for British motor sport and his many talents will be sorely missed. I would also like to welcome Alan Gow as our new Chairman. Alan and I have worked closely together on the board over the last few years and I know he has both the drive and enthusiasm to become an excellent Chairman."

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my tenure as Chairman," said John Grant, "but I felt it would be difficult to commit myself fully to the task for a further three years. It has been an important time for the Motor Sports Association and I have been excited to be involved in some of the major changes taking place in our sport. I am delighted to be leaving the governing body in such a robust condition and handing over the mantle to someone who I know is deeply passionate about the future of motor sport."

Alan Gow, a director of the Motor Sports Association since 2002, has a considerable understanding of the domestic and international motor sport arena having been the Chief Executive of TOCA, promoters of the MSA British Touring Car Championship for more than 10 years.

"I am honoured to be offered such an opportunity," said Gow. "I believe that Britain should be extremely proud of its motor sport heritage and I have been involved in many of the significant changes that have been taking place over the last few years. I look forward to the challenges ahead and feel sure that I have a great deal of vision to bring to the development of the sport in this country."
