Automotive Academy Launches Kaizenracing.co.uk
5th July 2006 (Source: Automotive Academy )
The Automotive Academy is today (Wednesday 5 July) launching kaizenracing.co.uk; a great new on-line game for young people that encourages them to think about a rewarding career in the motor industry. Although primarily a fun game, there are serious lean manufacturing tools and techniques that lie behind the game's design that link back to the Academy's key role in up-skilling all levels of the automotive supply chain. As a further incentive for young people to get involved, there are free prize tickets to MPH'06 at the NEC in October to be won.
Launched at today's SMMT Industry Forum Youth Summit, kaizenracing.co.uk challenges players to negotiate their way round a racing circuit and through the pits, replenishing fuel and tyres as they go. Get the process wrong, and they'll struggle on the next lap. Players can email the game and challenge their friends and there will be a national leaderboard.
The game gives players some of the techniques that'll help them in whatever career they go into. Kaizen is about simple organisational skills using principles tried and tested in Japan. This practice has helped turn companies like Toyota, Nissan and Honda into the world's richest and most successful car manufacturers - and makers of some of the world's most exciting cars like the Skyline GTR, Supra, Civic Type R and the NSX.
The game is now active at www.kaizenracing.co.uk. The game will also be showcased on the Academy stand within the Careers Village at the British International Motor Show, at ExCeL London between 20-30 July. For the first time, specific advice on career options across the whole spectrum of the automotive industry will be available throughout the entire show.
Alan Begg, the Academy chief executive said, 'This a great new game showing our next generation of motor industry workers the skills and techniques they will need to develop over the next few years. What better chance to see what they need to be doing to get a successful career in the industry. We'll be at the Motor Show in London in July, so come on down and try it out for yourself!'
Note to editors
The Youth Summit is a three-day event at Jaguar Cars, Castle Bromwich, attended by 15-16 year olds from the West Midlands who are leaving school within 12 months.
