Wales Revs-up for National Motor Sport Week

Shoppers and office workers will be able to meet top Welsh rally and race stars this Friday and Saturday and win a unique prize on Wales Rally GB.
Star drivers from rallying and racing, marshals, officials from Wales Rally GB, the British Women Racing Drivers’ Club plus a Subaru rally car from Promax Motorsport, Llanelli take centre stage in Cardiff on 11 & 12 August to promote motorsport in Wales during National Motorsport Week (12-20 Aug).
Hankook’s British Rally Championship driver, Stuart Jones, from Welshpool, will be at the National Motorsport Week display area, next to Boots chemist and inside St David’s Shopping Arcade in Cardiff on Friday 11 August between 11am and 3.30pm to meet rally fans and sign autographs.
On Saturday, the young Formula Palmer Audi single-seater driver, Tom Haines, of Cardiff, will be on hand between noon and 3.30pm for autographs and photo opportunities.
Motorsport can be enjoyed by anybody at any age and there to share their experiences and give advice on how to become involved in the sport will be Wales top racing marshal, Geoff Edwards, SJR team co-ordinator Kim Jones and Wales Rally GB officials, Monmouth race driver Georgie Shaw, from the British Women Racing Drivers’ Club and Welsh Automotive Forum events co-ordinator Claire Schneider.
Visitors to the National Motorsport Week display will also get a chance to be part of the Hankook’s team on Wales Rally GB on Saturday 2 December in the free to enter competition. The prize will be for two people to join the Hankook’s British Rally Championship Team on Saturday 2 December at Wales Rally GB in the Service Area, with hospitality, plus two tickets for the Millennium Stadium on Saturday evening for the all action super-special stage.
Hankook’s Motorsport Manager, Mike Patterson said: “The winners will have a great time seeing the action up close and what happens behind the scenes as Gwyndaf Evans and Stuart Jones prepare for Wales Rally GB.”
Visitors to the stand this Friday or Saturday will just need to give their names and contact details to enter the free prize draw. The winner will be drawn by Wales Rally GB Events Manager, Nigel Murphy, and notified as soon as possible afterwards and posted on the www.wheelswithinwales.co.uk site.
