Summary

This is a short (16 page) booklet which explains the options for school-leavers who want to go directly into engineering rather than Higher Education. The booklet explains the difference between Modern Apprenticeships and Traineeships and the GCSE or GNVQ qualifications needed for each option. There is also a 'route map' showing possible career paths and qualifications - useful given the range of options available - and six case studies of young engineers who followed different routes into the industry, working for companies as diverse as Nissan, British Aerospace and Williams F1.
